The final of the 2016 Qualification Program Case Analysis National Competition was held in Beijing on Dec. 2. After coming out on top from nearly 400 teams and fiercely competed with the last 7 teams (from Tsinghua University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, Central University of Finance and Economics, Zhongshan University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law), the SMXMU team, made up of 3 accounting students and a student from the School of Economics, XMU, won the championship with marvelous performance.
QP Case Analysis Competition is aimed to help the university students develop their business skills and career judgment to face the complicated business environment. Organized by Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the 15th and 8th contest was held in Hong Kong and mainland China. Nowadays, the contest has become an important event in Hong Kong and mainland China, which has great influences and attracts great attention and many professional participants from business schools. This year, there were generally 377 teams participated in the competition, including famous universities such as Tsinghua University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Sun Yat - Sen University, etc. The competition this year took the operation of a dairy company as a case for analysis. In the first round of the competition, a 12-page summary report in English and a financial analysis should be provided. The 30 teams qualified for the second round should be examined by a second team of judges. Finally, there would be 8 teams gathered in Beijing and fought for the championship by offering English presentation of their analysis reports and defensing themselves in front of judges.
SMXMU team won the first prize and the students were Zhao Luyao, Han Jiayu, from grade 2014, Lin Pengkai, from grade 2013, and Qi Bin, from grade 2014, of the School of Economics, XMU. In the final part, they stood out with their original ideas, creative implementation plans, professional financial analysis and wonderful presentation. They were awarded 10000 Hong Kong dollars and valuable internship opportunities in famous accounting firms. And they would be waived the first registration fee and the first annual fee if they apply for QP.
