On August 2nd, 2019, Dr. Bill Brown returned to Xiamen University from his ‘Dr. Bill Explores China Again’ trip. The trip sharing session to a wide diversified audience took place during the afternoon and was held at the Science and Art Center of Xiamen University. Dr. Bill Brown, together with representatives of faculty and students of “Youth China Tour” who also participated in the journey, shared their valuable and interesting experiences. Mr. Zhang Yan, the CPC Party Secretary of XMU, Mr. Lai Hongkai, the Deputy CPC Party Secretary of XMU, Mr. Qiu Weijie, the Vice President of XMU, Mr. Tan Shaobin, Assistant to the President of XMU were present at the meeting, which was hosted by Mr. Qiu Qixing, the CPC Party Secretary of SMXMU.
Dr. Bill mentioned that the people and experiences he encountered during his trip made him aware that although Chinese people speak Putonghua, which literally translates to ‘common language’, this certainly doesn’t suggest that the people are ‘common or dull’; on the contrary, he met fascinating and interesting people with vitality and aspirations to achieve realistic ‘Chinese Dreams’. Dr. Bill emphasized his appreciation and support from XMU and SMXMU, which made this visit a tremendous success. Without the help of XMU’s colleagues, students, media, and alumni, the journey would not have been possible. On behalf of XMU, Mr. Zhang Yan congratulated Dr. Bill on completing this mission again successfully.
