SMXMU is pleased to announce the renewal of its EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation, once again for the maximum period of five years. It comes in the wake of last year’s third consecutive AMBA (The Association of MBAs) re-accreditation, also for the longest span of five years, which cemented SMXMU’s status as one of the rare business schools around the world (less than 1%) to be triple-accredited by AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. With the awards, SMXMU proudly stands as one of the best providers of business education in China.
EQUIS and AMBA are the two most authoritative international business school accreditation systems worldwide, both known for the comprehensiveness and rigorousness of their accreditation standards. The five-year accreditation is the highest rating that EQUIS and AMBA would grant a business school, indicating that the school has fully met the accreditation standards, and has achieved excellence in some of them. To obtain the EQUIS and AMBA labels, candidate schools need to demonstrate a coherent strategy, high-quality training programs, excellence in the research field and a high degree of internationalization
Due to the Corona-virus pandemic, the re-accreditation processes in 2021 took place under extraordinary circumstances. The Site Visits as important parts of both the re-accreditation processes were conducted virtually, AMBA from September 27 to 28 and EQUIS from October 12 to 15. During the days, the Peer Review Teams held intensive discussions with various representatives from the School and the private sector. The AMBA and EQUIS expert committees were greatly impressed by SMXMU’s digital facilities, efficiency and the significant progress the School made since it was last accredited by them. Both the committees reached an agreement on positive feedbacks after gaining a thorough understanding of the School’s strategy, programs, students, faculty, research and development, executive education, resources and administration, internationalization, ethics, and corporate connections, as well as other supporting materials displayed in the E-Base-Room.
After appropriate decision periods, the AMBA and EQUIS Boards announced that the School of Management, Xiamen University was re-accredited for another five years in November 2021 and March 2022 respectively. Successful re-accreditations confirm SMXMU’s exceptional quality of students, faculty and programs, and lend weight to the school’s strategic choices. SMXMU is very proud of the achievements and at the same time aware of the responsibilities these re-accreditations confer on us in terms of continuous improvement and academic quality. SMXMU will continue to hold on to the high standards of world-class internationalized business schools as self-requirements, and devote every effort to pursue excellence in all fields unceasingly.
