China Institute for Studies in Energy Policy (CISEP) is a research institute with graduate education programs under Xiamen University, headed by Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor Boqiang Lin, a famous energy economist. CISEP features the integration of economic and management sciences, effectively integrates the excellent faculty and academic resources of the School of Management of Xiamen University, and closely integrates the development opportunity of the "2011 Collaborative Innovation Platform", always carries out a new development concept, and strives to shape a new face of China's energy policy research. We are committed to making it a top-notch research and education institute and a world first-class think tank. In the RePEc ranking of Chinese economics research institutions in December 2022, China Institute for Studies in Energy Policy (CISEP), founded in 2013, was ranked 16th.
CISEP aims to meet the energy policy research needs of the country and Fujian Province, and focuses on researching and solving complex, cutting-edge and comprehensive problems of energy policy. Combined with the construction of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Energy Economics and Energy Policy, a subordinate institution, CISEP will establish a world-class energy policy think tank through innovative research organization and talent training mode, building an academic exchange platform, strengthening database and information platform construction, and improving construction hardware facilities. CISEP is a research platform for energy policy, economics, finance, politics, and public opinion, and is open to domestic and international research on the basic theories of energy soft sciences, a service center of energy policy and policy consultation, and a training base of senior energy complex talents.
CISEP has made great efforts to introduce and cultivate a team of teachers and talents around the needs of discipline construction. At present, there are 9 full-time teachers in the institute, including 1 chief expert, 3 professors, 4 associate professors and 2 assistant professors. CISEP has hired a number of domestic and foreign scholars as part-time researchers, whose professional fields cover energy-related economic and management majors, as well as science and technology majors. In addition, CISEP invites experts from the Davos World Economic Forum Global Deliberative Energy Security Committee and the Davos World Economic Forum Energy Cooperation Advisory Committee to serve as academic advisors. Several members of the team have been selected as "Highly Cited Reseacher" by Clarivate and "Most Cited Chinese Reseacher" by Elsevier.
CISEP attaches great importance to the training of young teachers and builds a scientific model of teacher training and reward. We adopt categorical training measures and implement a series of teacher training programs and assign work tasks for different ages, different professional backgrounds and different job needs. We provide training and financial support for young teachers with potential, including career planning guidance for young teachers, as well as financial support and incentives for young teachers to participate in academic conferences, research projects, further studies, publications and other innovative activities related to the construction of the institute. In addition, CISEP continues to expand its research and teaching teams in the mode of "fixed staff + mobile staff", striving to create a good research atmosphere through scientific and humane management, and form an innovative research team with a complementary professional structure and reasonable age structure that includes Chinese and foreign experts.
CISEP comprehensively strengthens the cultivation of the practical innovation ability of postgraduates, sets up postgraduate innovation projects, increases the reward of postgraduate achievements, supports postgraduates to participate in international exchanges, and enhances the international competitiveness of postgraduates. CISEP started its official enrollment in September 2017, accepting 10 academic master students and 8 full-time Ph.D. students in China each year. Most of the Ph.D. graduates are employed in famous universities or research institutions at home and abroad, including Xi'an Jiaotong University, Dalian University of Technology, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and other domestic “Double First-Class” universities. The employment direction of master's graduates includes State Grid, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, Agricultural Development Bank of China, Tencent, etc. The proportion of master's graduates entering famous universities at home and abroad for further Ph.D. studies is increasing year by year.
