On October 13th, the University of Southampton, UK delegation led by Vice President (International) Prof. Colin Grant visited Xiamen University. Prof. Stephen Mortimer, the Associate Dean (Internationalization) of Faculty of Business, Law and Art visited School of Management, Xiamen University. Dean Prof. Ye Jianming and Dean Assistant Prof. Zhou Xing met with Prof. Stephen Mortimer.
Prof. Stephen Mortimer expressed fully recognition of the history and development of School of management after listening to the introduction of the school. He also introduced the internationalization strategy of University of Southampton. The university is keen to widen the faculty’s global vision through the faculty exchange with international partners. It will not only improve the internationalization level of the university but also could be great benefit to the student education. Dean Prof. Ye Jianming agreed with Prof. Stephen Mortimer that school of management would be delighted to develop faculty exchange and Ph.D. student joint supervision with international partners. At the same time, school of management is also seeking for international partners to develop the logistic management discipline. As the famous harbor cities, Southampton and Xiamen share broad common interest and can conduct cooperation in a lot of areas, he hoped two schools could strengthen the teaching and research collaboration in the logistic research field. They also discussed the cooperation opportunities in terms of holding joint research conference, publishing joint papers and developing joint DBA programs. Both sides agreed the meeting is fruitful, the communication and discussion will be continued in the near future.

The University of Southampton is a public research university located in Southampton, England. The origins of the university date back to the founding of the Hartley Institution in 1862 following a legacy to the Corporation of Southampton by Henry Robinson Hartley. In 1902, the Institution developed into the Hartley University College awarding degrees from the University of London.
