Here is a brief introduction of Huihe Stone Cultural Park and stone-shadow carving:

Xiamen Huihe Stone Cultural Park is a thematic park of Southern Fujian stone culture comprising the stone carving museum, stone-shadow carving exhibition, stone culture corridor, etc. Stone culture corridors and skillful stone carving works blend perfectly into the elegant landscape. The Park showcases the enduring history of Southern Fujian’s stone culture and is a testament to the co-development of stone culture and human civilization. Stone-shadow carving, which originated in Qing Dynasty, has been enlisted in Fujian Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is a unique and innovative carving technique incorporating the art of painting into stone carving based on the traditional “black-and-white stitch”

technique. In 2017, President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir

Putin visited the Exhibition of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Southern Fujian in Xiamen. Li Yahua, the inheritor of stone-shadow carving, demonstrated her carving skills at the exhibition and won the appreciation of both heads of state.
